Allstate Insurance Company has released its annual “America’s Best Drivers Report,” which lists the top 200 safest cities for driving.  The study uses information such as the average number of years between claims, the relative claim likelihood compared to the national average, and the number of hard-braking events per 1,000 miles.

This year’s winner is Kansas City, KS. Kansas City drivers have an average 14.9 years between claims and are about 33% less likely to have an accident when compared to the national average. It claimed the top spot from Brownsville, TX, which slipped down to second place. Madison, WI, held steady at third.

Coming in last at 200 is Boston, MA. Drivers there have an average of only 3.6 years between claims. They are about 180% more likely to have an accident when compared to the national average. This represents no change since last year’s report.

Anchorage, AK earned the title Most Improved with its 35-place jump from 69 to 34 since 2016. Macon-Bibb County, GA is new to this list this year, dropping in at 46. If you’re looking for a city with a history of safe driving, head over to Boise, ID, where drivers there have landed in the top 10 for the past nine years in a row.

Allstate used its own claim data to determine these rankings. Their data indicates that the average driver in the United States will be involved in one collision every 10 years.
